Show off your house ducks!

Wobbles covered in syrup?

The best I get is Tevye soaked in watermelon - looking like he has red tips on his poof and a red tie.

That is a cute vision. Tevye and a watermelon soaking. Well, it is made of water and he is a duck.

Also I had to share, Bean's running laps around the bedroom right now and it is ADORABLE. She gets all hyper out of nowhere and will run as fast as she can between the two bedrooms, back and forth, back and forth, her little feet going "PADDA PADDA PADDA" on the carpet going a million miles an hour! I have no idea why she does it, it's just friggin' great. xD
WEEeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! I want to love squeeze that little Bean. Her webs making that sound….

At the moment, we are unsure what we are going to do. When my husband let them out of their coop today, he went right after her and started ripping feathers off of her neck. We absolutely adore him, hes our pet but if it comes down to it... he may end up going to a friends farm with a lonely female pekin.
Oh no. The whole thing is sad. I hate the idea that she is being subjected to that and that you love him, too. You certainly have a decision to make. How far away is your friend's farm with the female pekin?

Gent, show her the photos xD
I don't have a good one of exactly that... so I guess I will just have to buy the turd-birds another watermelon and get that picture... They have been getting a 20+ lb watermelon just about every week - I just cut it in half and they get one half at a time. (With maybe a day off in between.) It almost competes with meal worms as their favorite!

Awwww...what happened to the one you posted here a long while back? It looked like Tevye had frosted tips, LOL! You showed it in the same post as your "ducks vs watermelon" video that I adore so much.

TEVYYYYYEEEE <3 I know it's pronounced "tev-yay" but I call him Tevie. Because he's awesome and adorable. I love how his bill has that thing where it looks like he's always smiling! Wobbles does that, too. Bean has more of a sneer on her face. xD

Exactly, Jade. It is hurtful. And I am a meat eater too but can easily make the distinction between the chicken I buy at the store and someone's sweet pet bird.
That's a rough one! ChaCha ended up with use because the other people in the neighborhood wanted to eat her. Thankfully the couple she was following wanted her to be just a pet, so they kept looking! I had JUST rehomed my Trina goose to her big ranch with her boyfriend (who are doing splendidly, just got an update and some pictures of them this last week ruling their 16 acres!) and was really empty nesting (=P), and here ChaCha shows up at my door! What a perfect little white blessing!

*I too have nothing against meat eaters - I raise my own chicken meat from time to time when I'm able. I feel good knowing I can serve the live chickens a happy life just as they serve me and my family the nutrition we need. I think it's a great little circle of life =)

My precious Tinkerbelle laying in the house yesterday, resting up from being beat up on by our drake.

She is so gorgeous!!!! I'm super jealous! Welsh Harlequin was my "must have" duck breed before I got ChaCha. Now the list of wants is growing like mad... but Welsh Harlequin was my original duck love!
HNNNG I just need to work! It's so hard to find jobs in the vet field it seems...I feel kinda useless, you know? I love my babies but they make it impossible to get a job, even in my old career :/
Do you use craigslist for job searching at all? I don't know how popular it is where you live, but that's how I found my last 3 REALLY awesome animal related jobs!
1) Working at a special needs school creating and running my own "Animal Program" - we raised serama chickens, built a coop for a future flock, gardened for our 2 class pet rabbits, learned all about the basics of egg and chicken/duck anatomy, AND ChaCha could come to work with me as often as I wanted! She split her school days hanging out in the classroom and being general entertainment, and spending her mornings playing with the preschoolers and then napped with them until I could pick her up after class.
2) Nanny for a family working on their own mini homestead - Trina was welcome there when she was growing. I got to help look after the kids AND work with the mother to build their homestead and work with the animals (I love milking goats, it's oddly therapeutic). Having a veterinary background I was able to do a lot of the things your average person has to pay a livestock vet to do. I could do all the regular checking of animal health, keep daily health records with TPRs etc, draw blood to send to the lab for routine tests, trim hooves, triage, it was a blast!
3) Front Office at an exotics vet - on reptile days I could bring ChaCha. She sometimes came on bird days, but I always feared for her health so I usually kept her home. She was behind he desk so the dogs never bothered her (and bonus for me, I didn't have to be in contact with the dogs/cats so I didn't suffer much from my allergies, but being trained as a VA I could help out with blood draws/catheters and restraints on all the exotics, all the fun, none of the cage cleaning hassle haha)

If you put yourself out there with a really great description of all the things you have passions in (not just animals), people will reach out to you for their special jobs. The Special Education school offered me the job based on my nanny ad, I never imagined I'd be able to combine education and my special needs experience with my love and knowledge of animals! You are so awesome, I'm SURE there's a perfect job that's been crafted JUST for you out there, you just have to find it!

But he can do better

Omg. I love his face! I think crested ducks have an extra gene that makes them mischievous... ChaCha makes that same "satisfied with my destruction" face after she's done something naughty lol

I think it's more a Peke thing than a crested thing. I've never met a Pekin that didn't have an awesome personality. I swear white calls must have a little Peke in 'em cuz Wobbles acts the exact same way!

That's so awesome that Trina's doing well, I know how hard that was on ya. As for the job thing, eh, I guess I could try to be proactive and start my own project like that, going to schools and whatnot, but I've never done anything like that before and I'm not the best with kids. I actually was up for a job at the bird clinic I used to be at but I was DQ'd since I'd become a client after the fact. Which ****** sucks.
