Show off your house ducks!

She's been laying for about a month now, and is otherwise acting fine. It's just the insane amount of diaper-defying poop that has me worried! That's why I asked here and not ehc all duck thread, I need Kukupecpec, Scovy Momma or Rayvn to weigh in since all their house duck girls are laying.

I dunno why it won't show your quote, Kathy, but I was gonna say I think maybe you're right... might be something about having the diaper so close to her backside, maybe makes her feel like she's setting? A physiological response?

Otherwise, if she drank a bunch of water right before, that would do it... I don't have diapers on mine, but the other thing is I have noticed Lady Grey tends to let out more enormous amounts of poop at once since she's been laying...

If she is normal in every other way, I wouldn't worry... but it still sucks to clean up... :/

She hasn't gone broody though, and she's never had a problem with the diaper she wears, even after she began to lay.

Do you have a baseline weight on her? If not, you might want to get one then start weighing her every few days just to make sure she's not losing weight. Weigh at the same time in the mornings before they eat to get the most accurate weights.

I agree with Kathy... if you don't have a scale, at least measure her around and feel her keel each day... get to know what is her norm and keep an eye out for anything off...

It's not that she is broody, just that since she has been laying for a bit now the warm air trapped in the diaper may be giving her body the 'feeling' that she is setting... it might be purely a reaction of her body... just a thought though...

Yes, she has a base weight. Unfortunately I'm still at the hotel and my scale is at the house. I'm returning home in two days' time, hopefully this doesn't happen again anytime soon!

This may seem like a weird milestone, but Wobbles and Bean had their first successful water mating last night! In the tub here at the hotel, of all places and all times...but they did it! I was so worried about Bean so I drained the water down where she could stand on the bottom if she needed to. Wobbles is finally learning how to be a real duck!
