Little Soleil was such a precious duckling! And now she's a beautiful lady with such lovely outfits!

I have a question for the rest of you with indoor ducks. How do you best manage the poop smell? My new house is tiny and Bunny's pen is in the living room. Needless to say, I haven't wanted to entertain guests at my new place because I'm embarrassed about the smell, which spreads through the whole little place. Of course, I've always known that ducks stink, but it's worse now in this little house because you can't escape it. Once or twice a day I'll pick out the poops that she hasn't managed to step on and grind down into the astroturf. Every 2-3 days I vacuum the astroturf, and about once a week, I take the whole thing into the yard and hose it down. But is there anything else I can do to minimize the smell? Any filters or pet-safe air fresheners? Thanks!

We recycle grocery bags by using them to dispose of diapers and we take it outside to the trash every night. At night she's in a big kennel lined with a puppy pad and towel. Her towels and harnesses are cleaned daily. I bought a Pet SpotBot early on and it's amazing!

Okay, so you toss the puppy pads and wash the towels every day? I've been trying to go 2-3 with just "spot cleaning," so maybe that's my problem.

I have a small house too & we built this duck crate for Daisy from pallets.
400
I have it in the room she shares with my 4 dogs. When she's in the crate, I clean the water & wipe up the drip pan on the bottom with paper towels & vinegar in a spray bottle every other night or every night if I have time. When she wears her harness the paper in the harness is tied up in a diaper disposal bag & thrown away in the trash.
I also hit up the dollar store for air absorbers that really do the trick & are very cheap. No ducky smell!

I use STALL DRY DEODORIZER and BAKING SODA. Just sprinkle a little in their messiest place and there's no smell. One bag last me about 4 months and still going now. I get it from AMAZON http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000TZ8SV4/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
It was a lot cheapier when I bought it tho, but most feed stores or tractor stores sell similar products. This is stuff is used for horses, but its now made for any animal and harmless =) Hope this helps.

Thanks for the suggestions, Scovy Momma and ACDKMT! I'll give all those things a try. My first house guest will be here in 15 minutes, so I scrubbed the cage down this afternoon. Hopefully it's all good.
