Yay, thanks so much for linking this!

Wobbles just hit three weeks. She's getting so big! <3 Yet she's absolutely tiny. She's still only about the size of my hand. I got me one tiny call duck.

I would love to get some call ducks! The tiny birds are so adorable! You have to share some pictures!

My Lucky duck!

Wow! What a pretty ducky! What kind is she (or he)?

Hi everyone! I have a house chicken for some time now but I love ducks! Alady on craigslist is selling a single male call duck that is super tiny. Is it possible for a duck that wasn't imprinted to live the indoor lifestyle? In the picture she is holding him and he looks happy. He is just adorable and so small I could keep him in a large parrot cage! I'm so crafty I could sew him diapers and I would be home all day with him because I'm disabled. I emailed her and also asked her about her muscovies. They are super big but are relatively quiet so I could keep 2 of them outside without trouble or I could keep one in the house if I make an enclosure. I would love to have a duck in my life! All of your ducks are so adorable with their little suits and their smiles!

I think it really depends on the duck. Just because you raise it alone indoors doesn't always mean it will be content to be a house duck. ChaCha followed someone home from the park (a local dumping ground for unwanted backyard waterfowl) and she's definitely happier inside with us than my other ducks who were both raised inside with diapers on. And while I can't imagine that someone who put that much time and effort to diaper and indoor house a duck would dump it at the park, I don't REALLY know how she was raised so she may indeed have been some sort of house pet. If you have the space to keep the ducks outside you could try making one a house duck, but I wouldn't get your heart set on it because chances are he'd rather be living outside with other ducks. If you are getting the ducks for outside anyway, it doesn't hurt to try to diaper one if they are very people friendly. You just don't want to torture one who doesn't want to be inside or wear a diaper.

I have one house duck (the cayuga in my picture).

Lucky is actually afraid of other ducks, and waits at the door to go inside once he is does with his bath. I got him as he was hatching, but I honestly wouldn't recommend it for everyone. I am home a lot and when I am not home all of the time, I take Lucky with me. Having just a single house duck requires soooooo much time and work.

Also when theyes are going through puberty they like to choose their human as their partner and it th love bites can be rather painful. On the flop side though, Lucky is my beat friend, hands down. We are closer than my dog and I. The work, if you have the time, is worth it.

It's a lifestyle change, so make sure that you do thorough research. If you have any questions in sure you ca n get them answered on here.

Hehe yes, yes it is a lot of work! But sooo worth it. Nothing beats having Wobbles nap on my shoulder, only to wake up and immediately start nibbling my earrings. XD

I completely hear you there! Only Lucky seems to think my nose ring is a fun thing to latch onto -_-

It wouldn't even be so bad if it didn't tickle so much! How old is Lucky now?

Almost 5 now.

What about yours?

Just hit three weeks, she hasn't even grown her pinfeathers yet! I can't wait for her to grow up so I can let her have free reign of the house, but another part of me wishes she'd stay this small and fuzzy forever. <3

Question, how'd you handle diaper training?

I made a little sock diaper originally, but only used it for a. ...it out don't recommend it though when they are so young. I used the puppy potty pads so Lucky could sit with me before the diaper age.

And I put it on, let him wear for 30 minutes and Lucky cantaloupe right after I put it on (favorite treat) ans as soon as he stopped messing with it I took it off. Only took a couple days, now it's nothing. I just change it every couple hours. Th e bounce back from it really quick

Hi all! I am slightly new to the site and to having our duck indoors. We rescued 2 khakis (1 male, 1 female) a few months back and had an unexpected issue with something getting in their pen and we lost our male, Dexter :( Our female, Deema, was attacked but survived. We knew we had to bring her in to help her heal and with her mate gone, knew she wouldn't be ok out thee alone. We brought her in the house for recoup time and to recover from the large bite taken from her back. She has healed up 95% and has even regrown most of the feathers and everything! She is a lucky lil gal for sure.
Within 48 hours, i had been chosen as her human and she follows me every where I go, sleeps on my side of the bed and has a fit if I leave her line of sight! She is still afraid of the dark (I think it is from survving the attack) but has gotten ok with seeing her own reflection so she seems as mentally healed as physically. We've been waitnig for her wounds to heal before reintroducing her to a new mate or back outside and have a dilemma..... she doesn't have much interest in going back outdoors, has adjusted to her cute little pink zebra diaper and has become so adored by the kids that we have decided to keep her indoors.
I recently got her a diaper harness from a fellow seller on Etsy and it is so cute! She doesn't seem to mind it anymore, after a few minutes of trying to get it off, lol.
Just wanted to say hello to everyone and I hope to learn alot, never had a house duck before!
Here she is, Deema!
