Show off your house ducks!

We've been trying, but Wobs is one stubborn motherducker. Also Mochi is a scaredycat and will bolt if she gets too close, which often results in the holder being scratched. :p

She's in her full blown rebellious teenage phase, so she's really hard to handle. But I guess all we can do is be persistent and see what develops.

Ugh, you and me both...I miss the adorable, sweet, affectionate, but most of all obedient little ducky that I hatched out! :p

Aww how cute, Quackers would rather bite my face lol. Even though she is looking for cuddles right now. She's debating on jumping on the bed or not. She's sitting there staring at me lol.

Hey, I need to ask a question about flying. Wobbles has been fledged for a while now but she still can't fly. We've tried to take her out on fields and small ponds to coax her into it by getting a running start, but she'll get a foot off the ground and either crash or give up and just hoof it the rest of the way to us. What did you guys do to teach your housebound duckies?

She's a Pekin, right?

Well if that's the case then since she is a domestic duck she won't fly like the wild ducks do.

Domestic ducks were breed to have a bit more body weight then their wings can handle.

So she'll maybe get a few feet off the ground and fly about 5ft or so.

With Floki, she first figured it out when she got super excited. It was the funniest, and most awesome thing to see that look on her face....like. ...WHOA! I didn't kno I can do that.

But almost everyday my husband flies her around the house and yard....picks her up and makes her flap her wings....it's good exercise.

But one of the main things we do to keep her wings active and healthy is, when we leave her on the bed and walk out and call her.....she of course wants to follow, so she figured out after a few times slipping off the bed that, HEY, I can fly off.

It's awesome, sometimes she files 6 plus ft out of our bedroom.
