Show off your house ducks!

I think ChaCha belonged to a child before she came to us. She loves me, but if there is s child around she will follow then instead in a heartbeat. She gets overwhelmed if there are too many kids all at once, but being an animal she had a sixth sense about people. I work at a Special Education school and woke the more mainstream kids will get a good nip if they move too quickly or act too loud, ChaCha always sits very still for any of the very special needs kids. It's actually quite nifty to watch. She won't hurt any of the kids so I let get bite. Part of her point at school is for the kids to learn how to intact with animals by learning to think about others and the needs of others first.

Aww, that's so sweet. <3 I wish I still has that option, but Wobbles prefers the quiet life, and besides, knowing parents where I live they'd probably never allow their pwecious babies to get a tiny, insignificant nip from a duck!

Ha! I know those kind of people. I tend not to associate with them. My group is more the "let him eat it... it'll build his immune system" when their infant picks up a dead bug lol I'm more concerned about ChaCha than any child though so maybe that's just me.

Do you still have your geese? haven't seen you on the goose thread in ages.

I don't! Pom was just so vicious to any human that we finally had to pen him up - we couldn't get to the other animals to feed/water/clean let alone to spend any time with them! So Pom and Trina were put in a 10x5 ft pen. It worked fine but they are big geese and after a while I just didn't feel right cooping them up like that. I had planned on building then their own large area to run and play when we moved but it's been 2 years and we are no closer to moving out then we were the day we moved in, so the geese moved away to a 16 acre ranch where they have all the space they can manage to ruin and play. They are the only geese on the property so I'm sure they are happy and enjoying being the royal couple of the land!

I'm glad you were able to find them a good home.

Me too, I'm just sad they had to go. And of course RIGHT after my sweet Trina left us, ChaCha showed up at my door =) it was perfect timing, I really missed my house goosey. And ChaCha really needed it so it worked out just great!

These are our babies Sassy and Pickles. We are ordering diapers next week and we're so excited. I was afraid with two ducklings that they wouldn't imprint very well but boy was I wrong. They only respond to two people my girlfriend and I. And they love to snuggle. They are Muscovy ducklings so hopefully we will figure out who is a girl or boy. No sound other than a little peeping and a lot of whistling.
