Show off your house ducks!

Pics
No, that shouldn't be necessary, I'm just hoping they DO bond, is all. Speaking of my little stinker, have I mentioned how much having a house duck is like having a kid? I got myself some carrots to snack on, and I go into the bathroom for 30 seconds to wash my hands. 30 seconds, that's it. I come out and the first thing I see is a duck COVERED in ranch dressing! His entire bill and head were covered, and he'd splattered it all over my bedroom wall!

Don't worry, I already called it in, the ranch won't hurt him. I don't think he even ate that much, more like took a mouthful and then went PTOOEY all over my room. :he
That is hilarious. He is wonderful.

I'm sure it would, if I could leave my house. :p But I do admit it's sweet how he clambers up onto my pillow and pecks my forehead in the morning when he wants me to wake up and feed him.

P.S. How hard is it to clean ranch dressing out of an embroidered duvet...?

Use dishsoap instead of laundry detergent & hand wash the ranch spot. There is oil in the dressing. That is what will leave a stain. The dishsoap (& hot water if possible) will pull the oil out of the fabric.

You're wonderful Silkie, thank you! Just gave Wobbles a bath and spot-cleaned the duvet with dish soap like you said. I just hope it dries in time for bed, it's cold out x_x;; As for Wobs, he seems quite pleased with himself. Of course.

You're welcome. 6 kids tend to teach you a few tricks for stain removal over the years...lol And a hairdryer or small heater work great for quick drying when needed...lol

Thankfully, I already knew the hairdryer trick. Also in some adorable (yet totally useless) ews, Wobbles finally mastered the art of Flamingoing! He's never been able to balance on one foot before, but today I caught him doing it. :p He's a certified kickstand now!

Kickstand! LOL I love that
ChaCha tries to do it on the bed but she's so fast she sinks into the soft mattress and falls over lol

You gotta share some pictures of Wobs!

I have a little news! Someone dumped a pair of ducklings on my doorstep this afternoon. It has to be someone who's been to my house for ducks/chickens/or rabbits but over the last few years I couldn't possibly narrow it down. Whoever they belonged to seemed to really like them. They are very friendly little guys and they came in a box with little blankets and a sleeping basket/nest and cute little food and water bowls! So strange. I'll have to find them a new home, ChaCha is not a fan of other ducks.

I wish I was closer! I would have loved more ducks! (I have embraced my waterfowl addiction and am just running with it at this point...)

Oh man, that must have been so painful to whoever had to give them up, seeing how much love and attention they gave them beforehand. What kind of ducks are they, do you know?

As for the bed thing, Wobbles is kinda shaky too, but since he's so lightweight I think he has an easier time of things, hehe. I also read in bed a lot so he'll use that as a plank to stablilize himself!

I need someone loving like you guys to take in these little darlings. They are SO well behaved it's crazy!!!
Question - I haven't had ducklings in a long time. They are starting outside in a big plastic dog crate. I would bet they are only a week or two old, do they need a heat lamp at night? It gets to be about the 60s at night, but it's nice abd warm, 80s abd sunny, during the day.

I agree! That must have been hard. I feel bad knowing I can't give them a forever home. They must have known about ChaCha and all her pampering and thought they would have a good home here. I feel responsible for finding them a really great home.

ChaCha is probably a Pekin. So she's naturally a big fatty lol If I leave anything like a book or my laptop on the bed she always chooses to stand on that instead of the bed. I'm sure it's more comfortable on her feeties!

Do any of you paint your duck's nails? ChaCha and I have been experimenting. She gets the full pedicure!
