So the babies cried when I went to run errands...
...and so we had our first car outing. They hung out in a basket on my passenger seat and we went to the drive thru at the bank, the pharmacy, and they got to ride in a soft carrier on my cart at TSC, where I am pretty sure several people thought I was self dialoging because I was talking to a bag... I tried to get the babies to follow me out back to meet the big birds, but they had none of it, and sat down on the kitchen floor staring at me while I called from the doorway. Eventually I gave up, and we are now all relaxing on the family room...

It's the sheer volume. I have a basic knowledge of human GI anatomy from in to out, but birds? Do they even have a colon or bowel that holds, moves and extracts the water from the poop like mammals or just a pouch in there that stores and dumps every 5 mins?

They have a full GI tract, but have an obscenely high rate of transit. It pretty much goes in one end and is out the other before you can blink. Ducks compound this by the sheer volume of fluid they drink over the course of a day - everything is bigger and wetter because of it!

Awww, hehe! That brings back so many memories. I think that's how Wobbles became so well-behaved when traveling, it was out of necessity when he was a baby, I had to take him with me!

They do, but it's shorter and simpler than a mammal's. It's just one of many adaptations they have to reduce their weight. But the obvious downside is, they gotta keep eating, and that means they gotta keep pooping! And pooping...and pooping...

400

My little poop machines are tired from their morning out...

OK, that explains it regarding birds. I thought mine maybe needed immodium to slow down the motility. Just kidding. Would never ever do that.
