your duck adventures are hilarious. Laughing at this one caused me to have a coughing fit.So the babies cried when I went to run errands...
...and so we had our first car outing. They hung out in a basket on my passenger seat and we went to the drive thru at the bank, the pharmacy, and they got to ride in a soft carrier on my cart at TSC, where I am pretty sure several people thought I was self dialoging because I was talking to a bag... I tried to get the babies to follow me out back to meet the big birds, but they had none of it, and sat down on the kitchen floor staring at me while I called from the doorway. Eventually I gave up, and we are now all relaxing on the family room...
I am such a sucker for a crying baby bird! They are nearly tall enough to hop out of their storage tub too - so the toddler stage is fast approaching... One actually did hop out - they were upset that I went outside to feed the other birds - so then I just gave up and put down their drop cloth and took them all out...Your little poop machines are too cute and I am glad the precious ones are tuckered out. did that make them feel better to be out with you then? I don't blame you either. I hate the idea of an unhappy bird.I am such a sucker for a crying baby bird! They sat quietly the whole time we were out, watching everything. They didn't mind the car or the back roads, and preferred to be in the basket where they could see over being in the soft carrier. One squeezed out of the carrier so I put it on my shoulder. Passed a town cop like that.... At the next stop sign I took the rest out of the carrier and put them all back in the basket. They were definitely happier with a good view of me and their surroundings!did that make them feel better to be out with you then? I don't blame you either. I hate the idea of an unhappy bird.

Eeeeeeeeee, that kills me. They are the epitome of funny babies. I'd love to see a reality show with you and all those ducks and ducklings. They sat quietly the whole time we were out, watching everything. They are officially no longer waiting for me to free them..Right?? Something about that high-pitched cry that just hits you right in the heart! I always scramble outside when I hear a wild mallard duckling giving the alarm call, hoping I can find it and bring it back to mommy. Or at least chase off whatever predator was threatening it in the first place. Goes against every bit of my training but I can't help it when I hear those frightened peeps!

I left them in their plastic tub and went to the kitchen to grab a snack only to turn around and have them all staring up at me from the floor. They were too quiet.... Probably because they had freed themselves and were on their way out to see me...
LOL! How did they manage that? Oh god, the mental picture is too much! XD
