Why dont you get a hysterectomy? (I think thats the right term? Its where your uterus is removed)

I've been trying to for years, no doctor will even entertain the idea. Even though I don't want kids (and can't have 'em even if I wanted to) they simply won't do the procedure "just in case a miracle happens". Yes, one OB/GYN actually said that to me!! One of the nurses at my doc's office empathizes, she had endometriosis as well, and she did manage to get a hysterectomy....when she was in her early 50's.
See! Ducks are totally therapeutic! You could probably register Wobbles as a service animal

I'm in the process of doing just that, actually. Then the airlines will HAVE to let him travel with me, hehe! Peabody duck hotel, here we come!

I bet you convince one.... My aunt had a hysterectomy just because she wanted to make sure she did not get any genital cancers. She also had her breasts removed. I think that if she did that just to be safe and you actually have a condition they should have to do a hysterectomy.

Haha thanks

Here he is when he was a baby on one of his outdoor outings.

he is adorable. Is he quite a bit bigger as an adult? I love the bodies of Pekins. My buddy has one and she's the size and shape of a puffy cumulus cloud.

^ THIS! I have uterine tumors AND endometriosis, which cause me an incredible amount of pain. But since Wobbles came into my life, I don't just lie around all day long anymore because...well, I can't! Wobbles has to be fed, walked, changed, bathed, etc. every single day. His entire world depends on me. And in a weird way, it has been therapeudic because with such a cute lil' fluffbutt who needs me and loves me 24/7, I don't focus on the pain so much anymore. And since ducks have a naturally high average temperature, he makes a great makeshift heating pad! :p
oh Amykins, I am sorry to hear that. Isn't there any relief for you or are the doctors stumped? Health issues suck big time. I have had my share of bizarre ones but as you said having Wobbles has been good for you as a little being to focus on and manage. Plus the sight of him just melts your heart and that's a good feeling which is so nutritious for your psyche.

Narcissus the gander is HUGE! He isn't bulky like the Toulouse, but he is really, really tall! (He is the goose in my profile pic) He is the primary guardian of my flock. He pair bonded to another gander, so he doesn't have a nest to protect, but he fiercely defends the yard from, well, everything... Any male waterfowl he doesn't know gets a brief beat down, then as far as he is concerned, everything is cool!
oh man, Narcissus, love the name. As huge as he is I'd be afraid of him if I were another largish bird. Does he ever get challenged? Are you able to pet him?

Yes, we're managing my symptoms, if nothing else. But you're right, Wobbles is my chicken soup for the soul <3

I know, right? What a perfect name for a gander, I bet it fits him perfectly! :p

He is a young gander - he was hatched out by his parents last year along with his partner Echo. The name totally fits him, he is SO very full of himself, and has a comment for everything. No goose has challenged him - the first thing he did when I released him into the yard was put my Toulouse gander down on the ground. He did not, however, expect resistance from my Muscovy drake, who gave it right back to him and refused to be dominated, up until the really bad cold snap and the knob on his caruncle got frostbitten. He was less into fighting after that, and narcissus finally got the better of him... I can handle echo if I manage to catch him (he likes to cuddle), but Narcissus will have none of it. He goose steps off looking very indignant if I try...

I did take some videos of him and the other birds, and discovered that once again, tragedy had befallen the Toulouse. The goose came off her nest, and looked like a drowned rat. It has been so warm that the snow level dropped by over 2 feet overnight. Of course the ground is still frozen, as is the drainage ditch around the run in shed, and their nest (#2, since the first froze in a cold snap), was half submerged. I soaked myself squeezing in there and pulling the eggs out, but I removed a clutch of 4 that is now in the incubator with my calls. Two candled out with early veining, two looked to be laid within the past day or two, but I am not holding out much hope, since they were sitting in the meltwater overnight. I'll see in a week whether or not they made it...

In the meantime, I will process my goose videos and post one!
