This is my Polish rooster. His name is Broken Chicken because when he was young I found him hanging upside down from their jungle gym by a leg. After a trip to the vet, crate rest, and this fabulous walking boot my husband made him, the broken femur healed great and he doesn't even limp.

he is very nice. What is this jungle gym? I am looking for things that could/should go in my new run.

I took apart a wire dog crate and made an A frame with side pieces at different levels for them to play on when they were teenage chickens (I don't know the real terminology for that age) It was too small to do any good once they were grown. Unfortunately i can not find any pictures of it but now I have an old saw horse with bird toys from the pet store hanging off and this that i found at a yard sale, which my husband hates but the chickens love. Two swings and the jars are plastic jars with holes drilled in the bottom. I fill them with treats so the chickens have to peck them to get the food out. keeps them entertained for hours. i think I got the idea from this website.

Thanks. I tried putting a hole in the middle of a cabbage and hanging it but my chickens ignored it and never ate it.

Really? Mine love a cabbage. I just throw it in the run and it looks like a soccer match. They eat out the center and leave the outside leaves. It looks like a really cool cabbage bowl. Every time I pick one up I think too bad i can't serve food in this. But I have a friend who threw one in for her chickens and it took them three days to even try it because they were afraid of it, but now they love cabbage.I have also heard if you hang an old CD out of their reach they will enjoy the reflections it throws, haven't tried that one yet.

They moved into the new coop and run I built Sunday night so now that they have more room, I will have to try tossing one in. What treats do you put in the jugs?
