Crowing
Depends what your goals are. The first bird is an Easter Egger. Good if you like a lot of random surprises, as far as chicks go. The other looks like a purebred Blue Wheaten Ameraucana.Soo.... thought this might be a good place to start....it's might be a bit long... but... I currently have 5 roosters... still in the growing stages... 4 are crowing ... one is still "playing pullet" and hasn't developed much beyond the feathers portion.... I really need to reduce the numbers for my hens sake (there are only 5 of them)... I plan on getting a few more hens next spring in order to maintain a "rotating stock" of layers... anyway... I'm having trouble deciding which to keep... my two top picks are the pictures below... here's the dilemma... they're both "good" roosters so far... still in that teen stage, but so far being respectful of people and protecting the girls pretty nicely... I feel like the more gray one is probably the "better" temperament (marginally).. but the other one is soooo pretty ... I'm having a hard time deciding what to do with them... I've seen where someone felt that 3 roos was actually not a bad #... keep these two and one of the other three?? Which I could always "finish" culling later if they decided to be butt heads ... or just go for the idea of 1 rooster and get it over with?? ... no one is really fighting yet or any other "badness" [/IMG]
