Show Quality Chicks?

Not terribly sure if their birds are "truly" exhibition-quality as I am no judge of specimens, but I do love Eagle Nest. :) I have bought most of my bantams (a large variety) from them, and been quite satisfied with their birds' looks/health. Definitely will continue to be a consistent customer. Completely agree, it's irritating when hatcheries mislabel Easter Eggers as Ameraucanas, as Eagle Nest does concerning their large fowl, but they do in fact sell true Wheaten Ameraucana bantams. :) My pair is absolutely lovely. An Ameraucana breeder once stated my hen, Selah, was nice enough to use for breeding. Most (if not all) of the birds shown in our county's fair each year are Eagle Nest stock. For whatever it's worth, I had to put in a good word! ;)

Just picked up my chicks on Wednesday from Eagles nest. 6 varieties. All doing well (although one died - being novices, not sure if we missed any obvious signs). Their catalogue actually spells the full size bird as "Americauna" and denotes it as "Easter Eggers". Although I am a complete novice, it was clear to me quickly in doing basic research that an Easter Egger spelled with an "i" was not the actual recognized breed. Funny that the very similar spelling was adopted into widespread use for these birds. I think another differentiation (If I recall from reading various posts and articles) is that the true-breed Ameraucanas lay a blue egg, whereas the EE's (not true to breed) can lay any one of a variety of colors, including blue. Anyway, I'm not looking to show the birds, and am really looking forward to seeing what color the 3 we purchased will end up laying. They are really fluffy though and super cute!
Here is the light one we received (my 11yo might name it "Galadriel" from LOTR if she maintains her light blond appearance, and her wing feathers are coming in very light):

Enjoy your new peeps! :loveSo sorry about the little one, they're quite fragile for the first couple days. :hit
As I have raised both true Ameraucanas AND Easter Eggers, the dissimilarities between the two are quite clear. :) Another form of differentiation is AMs come in specific, recognized color variations, whereas EEs can be anything! ;) It bothers me, as well, when hatcheries claim to sell Ameraucanas when they're nothing more than common EEs. (don't get me wrong, I love the latter, deception is just irritating :)) As long as you don't pay astronomical prices for "AMs," and are aware of what you're getting, Easter Eggers are wonderful! :D They're more interesting, anyway, as you have no indicator of adult plumage and egg color! :)
Fluffy and cute and BEARDED!!!! :love The light ones are simply adorable. :) Perfect name, too! ;)
