I guess I am thinking you wouldn't show a poor conditioned bird. With only pics to go by, these birds appear to be in good condition. Condition is not always under ones control. IF a birds is molting, you might as well forget winning a show, unless your the only entry with that bird. However, IF your already signed up, go and see what a judge has to say about TYPE. That is where I am coming from. I think as a person who is interested in a particular breed, and bettering or maintaining a level of standard in my flock. Not about the ideal perfection of conditioning. IF I did show, I would be more interested in a judge's oppinion about the weaknesses of my birds. So, I can work on bettering my flock. A GOOD judge's eye is more important to me then a box full of trophy's and ribbons. Many judge's are not the best people to ask on type, because that MIGHT not be their variety of expertise. There is a guy who judges Orp out west, and he frequently asks the breeder I bought my birds from what she likes and dislikes about the breed. And he is a judge. But, he is way more an expert about SLW's then Orps. but, he judges them anyway.
It might be worth getting the poultry press magazine to see what bird in your particular breed is winning the bigger shows. There's pics. Then ask that breeder who won, what he/she thinks of your birds. That might be a great way to know what you have & need to work on.
