SHOW UR CANDELING PICTURE! :)

I need a better way to "candle" I have a big square flashlight that takes those big square batteries..yes I know I sound so technical...lol...anyway,I use a peice of cardboard with a hole cut in it. I can see fine in duck eggs or white chicken eggs, but cant see squat in my brown, blue, olive, and my one lonely goose egg. Any suggestions?

Also, how do you know your chick is dead and not just sleeping? Sorry if I sound dumb, but I am amazed at the never ending knowledge you people have.

thanks for all the candling .I am new and was incubating guinea eggs and didn't know how to candle but now I do and I did it and over half my eggs where not feritle.

I am just amazed at the amount of knowledge I find here. I'm still in the learning phase, and can't wait to get my candler and check out my eggs.

Wow, this thread is GREAT! So glad I found it. I have tried to take pics of mine while candling, but it just doesn't turn out.

jnjross - how did you know that first one had died?

I made the candeler that was listed on one of the sites and it works pretty good except on these 2 itty bitty mahogany colored eggs I have. I can now see that one MIGHT have a "blob" and the other one MIGHT be clear for those two. (which was more than I could see with my LED light)

Also - does anyone else feel that the eggs that have definate growth seem heavier than the ones that aren't developing?

Thanks for all the great pics!

Lemurchaser, those are really good! Sorry bout the blood ring.

My cam is really good, I don't understand why it is having such a hard time with this. It's a sony cybershot w100 and I bought it for it's great macro ability (outside it takes GREAT macros!)

Anyways, this is at day 16 (last night).
