The nesting boxes are 28" off the finished floor. I have (6) hens and (6) nesting boxes. I have a couple of larger sized boxes for my bigger birds. All the nesting boxes are accessible from a large hinged opening in the back for easy egg collection. If they ever start laying...

I just purchase this unit at Target. I'm getting bantams in April and this is my first project. I'm going to add a slanted top, piece of wood to the front edges and then attach some wood pieces extending out for easy chicken access. Hopefully my plan works. I'll post pictures as I go along. Fingers crossed. I put in a cut up yoga mat for padding. I'll be adding shaving and hay to the top of the mat once I get the wood edge attached.
