Hello!
I have a little silver laced Wyandotte hen which I would love to show! I’m just wondering if she would be a good hen to try and show? She lets me pick her up and she is pretty calm around new environments. She also travelled around half an hour in a pet crate to get to my house and the whole time she was calm. Is there any training or anything else I should do before a show?? Any help or tips would be appreciated!!
these are some photos I took today

Are you youth looking to do 4H? Or looking to do open class showing? 4H showing, standard doesn't really matter, but for open class it matters more. I don't think there's a way to look at the poultry standard of perfection online, and I think it's like a $70 book... Are you looking to show and WIN? that's another thing. I find poultry showing quite fun, but my chickens never place so I don't pay for them to be entered anymore ($3 each bird is a bit much for just stressing my birds out for a day or a week at fair) but my pigeons tend to place quite well (so one bird getting say a $10-$20 ribbon helps cover the costs).

I dont know how many shows are running right now, but if you havent already Id look into shows and fairs in your area! how old is your pullet btw?

I was hoping to show her at my local agricultural shows, and maybe hoping that she will do well? She came from a breeder who shows Wyandotte’s so she should do pretty well at shows. She is around 1 1/2 to 2 years old and she just finished her first moult. Thanks😊

Her body/shape doesn't look quite right to me, BUT I've never shown or owned wyandottes just seen them at the poultry shows : D she'd be shown as an adult, which could put you at a disadvantage since you'd be up against people who could have their nice breeder stock birds there. It sounds like your probably showing as an adult (not in 4H or FFA) so it again could be a little more difficult to place somewhere high up, just so you know! You should show if you want to be a part of that though, it can be difficult but it can be super fun too! I haven't done *too* much open class showing besides for pigeons, so it could be different, so I hope someone else can come by and tell you more about it! Good luck
