Well, now that I have taken the picture, and see yours again, I can see that my girl is a lot lighter....more red. I have three pictures to share.

She has black in her though...

This is my favorite one of her... I got these pictures while she was inside the coop area, not outside with most of the others on the lawn. http://i1221.photobucket.com/albums/dd463/CynthiaWor/010-3.jpg
And I do believe that ours are EE's, not the pure Ameraucana.... so yes, little muttskies...

It's funny, the black laced neck feathers and black tail feathers do look just like my girl's. I do love that pretty light buff coloring on her! She might be a "mutt" but she is pretty.

Geez, I feel like a proud parent showing off baby pictures! LOL.

To clear up a little mud, here's some true, purebred, and rather rare Araucanas

no tail, no beard, no green or brown eggs - Just a rumpless bird with green or yellowish legs, a clean face with possible and preferred "tufts," a small pea comb, and a layer of blue eggs

Oh man. You and Clover! I want blue eggs. I want an Araucanas now. With the tuft. Can't find them any where around here that's for sure.
I want I want...A black Ameraucana, and a tufted Araucana. I want I want, blue eggs. Your birds are beautiful! Thank you for sharing the pictures and info.
I'm thinking the main thing that proves a pure Ameraucana is the body color and the leg color? Oh, the type of comb also?
I know I've had some EE's with some pretty big combs, like a RIR's. Not quite as large as a leghorn.
I really like this last girl I posted. She is really heavy. Has a sweet look in her eye, and will come up to me. Not too flighty like some EE's I've had. My blue Ameraucana is at the bottom of the pecking order..along with a partridge rock I have. But, she will come up to me if I squat down. She talks to me, or comes over and sits by me on the picnic table.

Yes, in Ameraucanas the two important things are body color and leg color.

A large pea comb that almost looks similar to an RIR comb is what happens when you cross a single combed (brown layer, most often) bird with a pea combed bird. The pea comb is dominant, but gets modified to be taller or spikier. In EE roosters the size of the comb is always a good indicator of his chances for carrying genes for green eggs vs blue eggs.

I'll take the first hen, and the rooster in the third picture.

Do you ever sell eggs on here? I'll have to watch if you do..oh wait, you have a list too. lol...I wouldn't be surprised. Are they known for being flighty, and not so friendly like some birds..or, just different personalities in them like I find in most.

I do sell hatching eggs, and yes, the hen you love and the rooster you love I do have paired up.

The offspring, you'll get 25% hens that look just like her, and a little less than 25% boys that look like him, but loads of others that will be just as beautiful.

Right now production is low but I usually do take orders and also do auctions.

The ones I've had are rarely flighty and never aggressive. They're better foragers than my Ameraucanas, better fliers and broodies too, however the boys don't get along with other boys as much. They're a little cocky and are super skilled at fighting, which isn't exactly a good thing.
wink.png
They're a friendly breed though, and very hardy too. Most of them are pretty similar in personality, I've run across a couple skittish ones though but those I never kept nor bred.

Waiting to hear that your girls are a layin!

Anymore pictures you all would like to share? I will have some lavender~pure Ameraucana babies hatching soon. Pretty excited. Now I want an Araucana!
