Hello all,

I am going to be showing at the Fonda Fair here in New York.

I am showing my hen and my mallard drake. I have a couple of questions though.

First any info you can give me on showing please do, this is my first time.

Also my mallard is young about 2 months, so he still has his girlish look, lol. Anyways there is a young Drake section though, and I am everting him there, do you think that is where he should be, or do they mean young but with male markings?

Also my hen is a Production Red, and there is a section for Production breeds, like RIRs, Leghorns, Plymoth Rocks, and Production mixes. Do I enter her as a mix or what? I could say shes a RIR, Wte Plym mix, lol.

So ya, any advice apreciated.

I can't reallly say anything about how to show them since I've never done it myself, but as for prep, don't forget to give them a nice warm bath at least 2 days before the show so they have time to re-oil their feathers.

I've never showed here since the fair is large and since I was not a member of 4h or FFA, there was no way I'd be able to compete against open class people who literally have show quality show birds that costs tons of money.... plus the isles of disqualifed birds that looked fine to me....

I am assuming you're dong like a small town 4H thing so I would say that you could go ahead and mark the card for your production red's as productoin reds since that's what I've seen at 4h exhibits. To be sure though, I'd call up the organizers and see what they reccomend. Good luck!
