My kids want to show their Chickens, a Favorelle and Brabanter, and their ducks, a Runner and a Pekin. I'm letting them do it for the experience and fun of it, though I don't think they are show quality(just from reading breed standards). I can't find anything on the Brabanters, and they aren't listed on the entry form. Are they not recognized?
Where would I go to get a health certificate?
Why am I giving myself this headache?

the poultry super can test ur birds on sight or call ur local 4h office see if they come to ur house and do it
i dont know what a Brabanter but u should be able to show it as a aov

No, not here in WA, we do not have certified testers. It has to be done by the State Lab. You can have your vet pull the blood though and send it in.

I posted the rules and information on the Washington thread.

I know if NY, we need our birds to be tested negative for Pollorum Typhloid, in writing. Our local 'State Agriculture Advisor' is certified and does it for us. I would get in touch with your local 4H and find out who can get it (whatever your required testings may be) done for you.

As for the Brabanters, I do not believe they are recognized. However, I don't think that should be a huge problem. Is there an 'other' section you can check off? They should still be able to be judged.

Don't be concerned. You just need to get in touch with some people and when the bulk of the work is done, it can be quite entertaining. Exhibiting is a good learning experience.

A.O.V. -
Is a All Other Varieties, or Any Other Variety.

It is not a any other breed class or a class for non-recognized.

Do you need testing or a health certificate to show in Washington? My understanding was that it was not required.
