Showing Call Ducks! Questions (Pictures)

I have a male call duck i want to start showing i got him last winter he isn't that tame is there a way i could tame him or is it to late?? Also his beak measures a little less then 1 1/4 inch is this good?? what all do i need to do to get him ready he has absolutely no black what so ever anywhere on him

Nothing goes streight to a ducks heart like food! In most situations feeding by hand should be avoided. but when socializing it helps immensly. i recomend several times a day sitting with him calmly and quietly and feeding him treats (may i recommend tomato or banna?) after a while you should run you hands over him and reward him and immeadiatly leave him be. eventually you will be able to pick him up and handel him. He will never be as social as an imprinted duck, but theres no reason he cant be comfortable with you!

I think your bird is probably what is considered breeder quality. Very nice looking little bird, but lacks some of the specifics for a show white call. As said before, he lacks the "cobbiness" that most judges are looking for. Also his bill appears to be long and narrow whereas most show call ducks have wide short bills. Some have bills that look wider than they are long. Nice CLEAN little bird, most of our Calls were very good at staying clean as long as they were provided with fresh clean water, they pretty much took care of the rest. We have one call drake left, we gave them up to work more with largefowl ducks
