Showing/Training Seramas

Hi there @Azeria I was able to find this thread using the search function...
https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/serama-show-training.553134/

In said thread is this post, #5, near the top...

When your bird gets bigger, then you can start doing the upside down stuff with it, but most shows require the birds be 6 months old to enter, so you have plenty of time. You don't want to hurt your chick in the meantime. Just cuddle it gently for now, and maybe wait another 3 months before doing any of the other stuff.

This is in the same thread....
Quote:American Serama should have medium length legs.

Start training them by putting them on a table with carpet on it and surrounded by a cage to get them used to walking around on the carpet.

Once they are used to walking around on the carpet remove the cage and teach them to pose by putting your finger under the beak and aligning the eye up with the leg.

I'm not sure how relevant this is to you as I do not train/show birds, but I do extensive plant breeding, and Mandela's law applies to chickens as it does to tomatoes as it does to prey much anything involving genetics...

I'm pretty sure that it's genetics that make them look that way, not training. The 'pose' training is more to teach the bird to be still while the judges evaluate it. The posture should be it's natural, standing position. You don't teach them to stick out their chest and hold their wings vertically, it's something that should be natural to the bird. Either your bird is conformationally correct, or it isn't.
The above was also found via the search functionand is from a different "Serama training" thread. https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/teaching-serama-chickens-to-pose.1075501/page-2

Good luck with your birds, and enjoy the showing of them.
