You're an adult so I'll speak frankly. If you're really interestedin showing & I hope you are as we can always use new people, there are some simple first steps that you might want to follow.
First, buy yourself a copy of the Standard of Perfection. It's an absolute necessity for anyone that shows. You have to study, learn & use the Standard to learn your breed.
Next, attend a few shows so you can look over the birds that are being shown Take your Standard with you to compare birds that win against breed descriptions in the Standard. This will help you to learn to apply the Standard. Also talk to the people who are showing the winning birds. Most of us love to talk about our birds.
Now you're ready to decide what breed or breeds you're interested in. It's really best to start withy just one but it's hard to do. Once you know what you're interested in talk to some of the people you've met about buying some stock to start with. Most shows have a sale area where there are usually some good birds available. The best birds tend to go fast so don't wait too long.
This process takes more time than simply buying & entering some birds but it will surely have a better outcome.
i would wait till they mature a bit more as well the mille already has to much black on him and he looks to be a d'uccle which means his beard is to small. i would do showing but all shows are way to far away from and i dont have the money to be traveling but i do try and get good stock but currently the best bird i have is my porcelain pullet. i need to get that book so i can compare my d'uccles to the standard
