I just spoke to Ruth Murchison and she ask that I post, in case anyone was bringing chickens to show and have not pre-registered, they will have to be turned away due to every available space being filled. There are over 900 chickens registered to show this time. That is A LOT of chickens. There are over 450 game birds alone so they have called in an extra judge who will be doing the game bird judging only. See everyone one there...I will have a tent set up if we need to use that as a reference point to meet everyone.

Thanks for letting up know...hope they don't have the same judges as last time. They where just way too harsh in comments.

I can kinda understand if you're talking about the one who judged the junior show, but I thought the open show judges did a great job.

yes...the junior one...he was just plain cruel and very disrespectful to the young ones. what if he was the cause of some quitting? That would be so sad. I hope someone mentioned it to the people putting the show on.

Don't worry they did, the clubs president and i were the ones they talked to about it. Now i'm not defending the judge but i will say a few of his comments were needed when it came to the OEG and the Silkies.

There is always the need for constructive criticism ..that is the only way you know you are doing the right things in breeding or that your stock is going to be nice for SQ stock. I have shown where they would not leave any comments and I wanted them. It is the way you go about it...telling a junior to cull her birds...that is just plain cruel. I am planning on going and showing. I have several new ones from breeding last season I hope to get comments..good or bad..that I want to do some selective breeding. Thanks so much for putting this on the thread. There is also the Newport shows second Sat in May and November. Dixie will be having a fall show too ..right?
