I have paperwork from my job that I have to shred. Do you think I can use it in the brooder where I am raising some chicks?

I use it after the chicks are a week old and just white paper, it doesn't have a bunch of dyes in it that can be poisonous when it gets wet and they try and eat it.

I lost a chick after putting shredded paper into the brooder. I do not know if the paper was the cause though, it could have been a lot of things. But I pulled the paper and replaced with wood chips.

Paper is not supposed to have any chemicals or harmful dyes as it is ingested by children. The only problem I can see with it is crop impaction.

I've caught chicks eating paper. I'll never use it again. All I need is an impacted crop on one of my girls.
