Shrink wrap

I woke up to the chick chirping and going where it shouldn't in the incubator. The yoke dried but I noticed what looked like intestine came out. I think walking around caused her to pull them out.

I learned that the news to grim for such a chick. Anyways I succeeded in pushing the intestines in. I was surprised at how easy it actually was. Then I little by little cut off the yoke sac to see if it would bleed. It didn't. I cut it as closed to the navel as possible. I.m not sure where the intestines end and where the yoke sac starts, so I guessed and then I actually seal any left over blood vessels of the yoke by putting it on the light bulb. It didn't hurt. The chick didn't protest.

It is the only chick that has survived this hatch, my first hatch. She is dear to me. She seems very strong and a strong desire to live. She is mostly protesting the way I had to hold her for her surgery.

So we will see. I'm not raising chicks on a farm, I just wanted to hatch some chicks to learn of the process. I do wish to keep this one if it survives. I guess we will see what happens in the next few days. Any ideas on how to keep the wound clean? Someone mentioned witch hazel .
I'm in Spain so the is a bit of a time difference. It is morning now and I will buy whatever I need.

I didn't have band-aids or q-tips.
My biggest concern now is how to heal the navel properly and how to avoid having the intestines come up.

It is chirping well and seems stable....for now.

These are pictures I took. The first one when it first came out and the last one after cutting off the yoke sac.

Will the end just fall off?

I'm completely clueless.

The stub looks very good. The chick seems ok. Mostly wants to sleep and snuggle, find heat.

It has pecked at things, but only wants to be held.

Wow, good job helping that baby. It's lucky to have you! Witch hazel is an excellent cleaning agent.

I had no idea how far to push the intestines in. I might have even poked some of them.

It has pooped twice today, a green with white.

I need to know what to look for if it is infected. And what is normal chick behaviour.

Apart from only wanting sleep, find heat and snuggle, it seems ok. It even wants to 'roost?'

I'm thinking of adding some acv to the water and give him some raw egg yoke to go easy on the intestine. As for acv, it is wonderful for helping to heal skin irritations and antibacterial.

I have no idea what I'm doing I just figured it was better to leave a stump then cut too close or push too much in.
