Shrink wrap

The poop sounds normal. I would probably do the ACV, and maybe put some coconut oil on the external area. After putting the oil on it I might wrap its abdomen with some gauze, to make sure the intestine stays put while the skin heals. Sounds like you're doing a great job! The yolk sounds like an excellent idea too.

I'm surprised how they have come out again. When I was pushing the intestines in I noticed that everytime the chick chirped they would push back out. The navel hasn't moved all day and the stub seemed to have dried up nicely, it even seems that it has detached slightly on one side. I haven't thought of putting gauze. I'll have to go buy some tomorrow and put it on to ensure the navel doesn't open on one side

I guess the real test will be the next couple of days when it starts eating and We will see how the intestines handle the food and poo.

From a medical standpoint, it makes sense that the intestines would come out again, without anything to hold it in while the skin heals. It is a sort of hernia, and the pressure from chirping would cause it to pop out again. My son has a tiny hernia, and every time he is excited in anyway you can see this tiny little protrusion between his belly button and his sternum. He skin is there to keep everything together, that's is why I thought of the gauze, to sort of hold thing in while healing. Keep us updated. I'm rooting for the little tyke! You can try the baby on food at this point too.

Here are some pic I just took. The stub is very dry and a circle has started to form around it. I haven't noticed a swelling of the belly.

I'm in Europe, and it is night time. Everything is closed. I have wait for morning .

I wonder if I can put honey? It is very healing.

It looks like it is doing well. The fact that it is dry is a good sign. Honey is very healing, and if you can find it manuka honey is particularly healing.

Well it survived the night. I gave it the sugar water with acv this morning . We will see what happens. I still mostly wants to sleep and stay in my hands. I think it should start to want to move around.

It loves the heat in the incubator. Is the chick going to be safe with more heat? 101?

Your chick has lost all the liquid and nutrients that the yolk would have provided. I'd not add ACV, and instead offer cooked egg yolk, water with just a little sugar, chick electrolytes or vitamins (or infant vitamins), and regular checks to ensure it is drinking.

You've done very well so far, poop is a good sign.

Butterfly bandages (suture tape) or surgical tape can be used across the navel if the down is trimmed on both sides. Be very careful not to obstruct the vent no matter what you use.

Is the chick panting in the heat? If not, and if it remains active, then the temperature is okay. Panting means too hot and your chick does not need heat stress.

Why cooked and not raw?
It is drinking water and seems ok. I removed it from the incubator. It was too hot.

Well it has drank. I gave it some raw yoke and some cooked yoke. It did show interest in both and ate some of both. I put it in its little brooder and it pipped loudly the whole time. I left the room and came back and it looks as if it pooped blood. I'm not sure if the belly is getting swollen.,it doesn't seem to hurt him. The navel is still closed so the blood must have come from the vent. It is not bright red, so it may be the blood from the little operation. It really doesn't like to be away from me.

It was a lot more alert this morning. I also think it is a rooster.
