Shrink wrapped assist - ready?

Partially thru an assist of a mallard stuck in shrink wrap. She is chirping and straining to get out but I’m not 100% she has absorbed yolk. She internally pipped Friday at 1230pm maybe sooner.

Ready or wait? She is chewing still a bit and swallowing

She is still absorbing, I would apply a moistener like food-grade mineral oil or coconut oil to the membrane to keep it from drying out, I would also keep the humidity fairly high 70%ish. Give her some time, and don't peel off any more of the shell.

Thank you. I used organic, cold pressed coconut oil that I had on hand. She is in 65% humidity a 98.5 degrees. I have a homemade bator made out of a cooler I had on hand (this was a salvaged egg) so that might be as high as I can get it.

She has stopped struggling to get out of the egg as much but is still peeping constantly between brief, deep breathing rest. When resting no swallowing/chewing but she is now while peeping.

I am unsure of the next steps. What are signs/time frames that make you feel confident a shrink wrap chick has fully absorbed? Lastly... do you leave them in the bator until they are fluffy and then move them to brooder or is there a bit more checking/nursing involved now?

Oh my! I've been in hear monitoring her peeping. She is OUT of the shell completely. She seems to have absorbed the yolk completely and is now on her side sleeping, drying off. Is everything OK? This has been such a roller coaster.

I can't see under him to see the full absorption or not.

He has the smallest of red spots on his belly like he was rubbed raw, not too much swollen. Sorry for so many posts. Any comfort or advice appreciated

I’d sure look because if it isn’t you need to put the little duck in a small bowl with soft dry paper towel under it till it absorbs so it doesn’t catch on anything an rupture.
