We had a badly shrink wrapped chick that we just helped hatch at the end of Day 22. The yolk was fully absorbed and not much blood but it was definately shrink wrapped. It was our last chick to hatch (or not hatch as it were). We have it in the incubator laying on a damp paper towel. It's peeping but not moving much. Is there anything we can do for it, or should we just leave it alone in the incubator?

if it the last egg you have then no need for a damp paper towel time for it to dry and fluff out. It is probably very tired from tryin to hatch for an extra day. let it rest. when it is dry offer it tepid water with sugar dissolved in it. for quick energy. you can use a couple tablespoons per quart of water for a couple days but it should only take a day or even less. just dip the beak, not the nose. then let it go. congrats on the hatch

Well she is fluffed this morning and moving around and seems to have interest in eating. Fingers crossed. I'm going to keep her in the incubator alone until she gets her legs under her, then move her to the brooder with the other chicks.
