Hi I have two cockerels a Light Brahma and a Buff Orpington and they have been shy since I got them. They are 6 weeks old and I’m afraid that they will be aggressive when they grow up am I right to be worried?

Although they did cower in the corner of their brooder when I got them water but that might be instinct

Just don't handle them too much or put too much attention towards them. And keep your interactions in a routine manner. Once there hormones kicks in they will know your not a threat. And they will focus there interactions among themselves.

Okay thank you I thought that I wasn’t giving them enough attention because of my barred rock rooster was a monster and I feel like I left them alone for most of the day but maybe that was just him

I do the opposite. I handle them a lot. And now I have several large Roos, all of which I can pet, pick up, and one who will even get in my lap when I’m sitting outside. (Used to jump on my shoulder, thankfully he stopped that before he got full grown lol). They are crazy aggressive when there is a threat to their hens like a hawk or other predator, but just fluff balls where as people are concerned.

Roosters are a gamble.

Some people swear that handling them a lot makes them over-confident and aggressive because they don't have the necessary respect.

Other people swear that not getting them accustomed to handling makes them fearful and thus they become aggressive because of fear.

If anyone ever comes up with a sure-fire way of raising a nice rooster that person will quickly become a billionaire. :D

I had a rooster that was really nice unless if he was startled but I got him as an adult so I don't know how he was raised
