We have eight young ducks. One was attacked by a groundhog and seriously bitten on the head and mouth. We nursed the duck back to health inside our home for two weeks. She is better but has some visual impairment. We have put her back with the flock and she is not adapting. They have accepted her, but she does not follow them anywhere. When she is lost, she quacks and one of her siblings will quack back, but she does not go to them. How can we help her become part of the flock again? She has been back with them for about 10 days now. They all sleep together at night in the coop. Please help and thank you in advance.

How bad was the head wound? Maybe the visual impairment is causing her to feel isolated from the group. It would be scary to me if I couldn't see well out in an open area and couldn't find my flock. Maybe give her some time in a smaller area with a buddy hopefully they would bond and the sighted one would stay with her once they are out with the others so she wouldn't be alone. I have read of that happening here on BYC.
