Sicillian Buttercups

We have one cockerel. (He's in my avatar.) He was our bonus from McMurray. We've handled him since the day we got him, so he's not too flighty. He'll sit around for a little petting, or jump up on my lap when I have treats. Otherwise, he runs off with the BO pullets anytime something spooks them. He is smaller than the BOs, even though they're the same age. He just tried crowing for the first time (that I know of) this afternoon.

She is a sweetie-I can't wait until she starts laying. Oh, and their combs are really cute.

Buttercups have been hatchery breed to the point they have been reduced in size and lay small white eggs. It is important to note that these birds were originally developed to be a duel purpose bird, both table and egg laying. They should be of medium size and lay a medium to large egg.

I have seen Buttercups that have been breed to the standard, they were of good size , beautiful feathering, and laid a large egg on average. They were from a breeder in New York.

I use to raise them, if you hand feed the chicks (I use to give them meal worms), they can become very friendly.
