I have a sick 10 month old hen with the following symptoms:

1) Listless
2) Yellow foamy poo
3) Pasty butt
4) Change is posture (arched back)
5) Stopped laying about two weeks ago
6) Vent looks OK

I could use some advice. From what I've read in the forum, it could be worms. Also, it started getting very hot here in Arizona about three weeks ago. Incidentally, one of my EE named "Bubbles" suddenly dropped dead two weeks ago. That was my first chicken death:(

it could be worms..foamy yellow droppings can be a sign of worms.
sometimes it can be a sign of respiratory illness..
is she showing any symptoms?
(swollen/wet/eyes, mucus, head shaking, wheezing or rattling..)

you can use Wazine 17 (piperazine)..easy to use and widely available..but only treats adult round worms.
repeat treatment in 10-14 days..

for a broader wormer, lots of people use Ivermec/Eprinex..for info:

this product also treats for mites as well as worms...
available at farm/feed/livestock suppliers in the livestock section..

worm all birds and give extra protein..such as cooked egg, or a little canned cat food.
give vitamins..try and get some poultry vitamins (if you opt for Wazine, wait till worming treatment is done).

you can also use Poly-vi-sol liquid baby vitamins, Enfamil brand, no iron..3 drops on beak once a day for a week or so then taper off for a week..

give a mixture of water cooked oatmeal, layer feed, plain yogurt, cooked egg..to try and replensih protein and calcium.
you might consider getting some Avia Charge from McMurray hatchery or Stromberg's..

do you have any antibiotics on hand?
the birds might have a low immune system due to worms causing deficiencies, and they could develop respiratory illness..
hope all goes well, and you don't lose more birds.

I've noticed that the sick chicken has a large crop (see photo) even though she is not eating. My other chickens do not have an enlarged crop. Any advice? Also, I bought some Aureomycin, but haven't used it yet.
