Sick 6 week old chicken

This little rhode island red rooster is sick. When i brought him home he itched a lot. Before too long it was obvious he was loosing frathers. Ive been using dematious earth in his brooder and a solution of vegetable oil, water, and dish soap to spray on him to suffocate whatever is chewing on him. His feathers look wierd. Hard to tell if they are regrowing or not. Hes still itching. Because i had him inside during our storm, my dogs itching and loosing her hair too. Any ideas

what to do?

Have you examined his skin to look for lice? It wouldn't hurt to dust him with Poultry dust containing permethrin. Rub it into his butt fluff, under each wing, on the nape of his neck and on his chest.
DE will do nothing to rid him on external parasites.

I can see something on him but cant see anything moving. Can see little white specs like dandruff.

I would use the poultry dust also, since it's a chick, rather than a spray that might chill him.
Any brand with permethrin will work.

I will definitely do that. Didnt know there was a special dust for chickens. Would the one for dogs be too strong? Just in case i cant find the chicken one locally.

Any dust that has permethrin as the active ingredient. Many feed stores, and tractor supply stores carry it. Maybe Walmart. Permethrin is toxic to cats, so if you have cats, be aware.
