Sick 8-10 week old chicken?

Hi!!
Im so sorry for your loss and all the stress you are going through.
If your other chicken died from coccidiosis I would guess bringing more chickens into the infected environment would cause them to get sick also. I don't think it was the trip that caused the sickness. Do you have any other chickens besides this new one??

Hi Chicken boots,
thanks for your reply. We don't know yet if the chickens have died from coccidiosis.

I bought 6 chickens (I have 7 kids) on Saturday 29th december. One died three days later - symptoms - lethargy getting worse each day. Then, another died yesterday (same symptoms) - despite being taken to vet and given anticoccidial and worming medication, but this did not help. We replaced one of them two days ago, and now this one seems to be getting sick (same symptoms). Waiting to see if the vet has any clues following autopsy. So in all, two dead in the space of 5 days (from original purchase) and one not healthy two days after purchase.

thanks
Emmanuelle.

Hi Chicken boots,

Chicken is still alive - but sleeps a lot. At least he does eat and is still alive. Could he be a lazy chicken who likes to sleep?

I have a question to ask you, if you don't mind. All that my baby chickens eat (6-8 weeks actually, younger that I thought) - judging on their size - is commercial feed for baby chickens and meal worms. I have offered them LOTS of things I thought they might like, such as wheat cereal and milk/water, lettuce, bok choy, but they don't want it. Will they like these things when they are older? What should I give them now to vary their diet that they would like? Thanks and Cheers Emmanuelle. Hope all is well with you and your chickens.
