One of our African geese - who is entirely wild except for winter when I feed them - has been unable to straighten her neck the past few days. Her eyes also look half closed. She had been sitting on a nest of 6 eggs for a couple weeks, and the egg are now gone. Wondering whether perhaps a predator got the eggs and hurt her in the process? Or do any of you have other ideas?

Thanks!

The only way your going to know whats going on is to examine her, if she has a wound you'd never know with out looking under the feathers. If she does have any wounds they need to be treated asap. I'd say if she was sitting out where a pred got her eggs then most likely she is wounded. Please let us know what you find.

Thanks Miss Lydia. Our geese are impossible to catch or corral except in the dead of winter when they **need** me! I can't get anywhere near this girl to examine her - she is able to keep up with the 2 ganders and ducks, and they are all very protective of her. I guess we will just have to wait and see. She isn't looking any better - or worse! Will keep you posted.

What access do they have to water? I was thinking, you could set up a kiddie pool for them to bath, but put a load of Apple Cider Vinegar in it. It´s a natural antiseptic. Would be better than nothing, just in case she has any wounds.
