I was reading the thread of people having allergies or food borne illness when eating duck eggs. Last week I ate a duck egg that I fried, after 2 eggs on different days I had nausea, each time it was worse. Then I decided it was about 3 weeks since I bought them through my farmshare so I decided to hard boil in my instant pot. Then I ate one after cooking fur 6 minutes and natural pressure release for 12 minutes then iced for 3 minutes then refrigerated right away. A few hours later maybe 2 I cracked one open and ate it with salt. About 30’ later I got stomach pains and it kept getting worse and worse until I was bent over for a few. I finally ate something and the pains went away immediately. Now I’m not allergic to anything and always eat chicken eggs with no problem so I don’t know what it is but they’re going out! My husband ate one today and he said he got minor pains in his stomach but not enough to be concerned. I did notice that after hard boiling them they got a brown circle on the shell all at one end. Anyone know why?

Hello Janet O and Welcome to BYC. Sorry to hear about your bad experience, I would be willing to guess there is a member or two who will be able to help you with your question. Maybe the eggs were from a hen that is on antibiotics or some type of medication to cause this? One thing I like to do with any egg before I use it, I will see if it floats in water or not? The egg don't float it is ok to use it.

Thank you, I will do that from now on but no more duck eggs. 🤢

You might have an intolerance to duck eggs! Many people can eat chicken eggs but not duck eggs, and some people can't eat chicken eggs but can eat duck eggs. If you get stomach aches and pains consistently after eating them, and the pain gets worse each time, it definitely sounds like an intolerance that might become an allergy.

I have done a little research into a duck egg VS a chicken egg and I was surprised to learn how many benefits there are to duck eggs.
There are no benefits if you can't eat 'em! 🤔 I have heard of others who can't eat chicken eggs, yet do just fine on duck eggs. I wonder why that is. Curious!
