Sick and dying chickens

I have Delaware hen that has the following symptoms:
1. Comb and wattles that are usually bright red and large. They are now shrunken looking and dark pink.
2. She's very lethargic, and just wants to lie around.
3. she has lost quite a bit of weight even though she seems to be eating normally.
4. she has a lump about the size of an egg on her breast.

Does anyone have an idea as to what's going on with her?

We thought she may have had worms (before we discovered the lump) and bought some Wazine and put it in the chickens water. We also gave her a tiny bit with a syringe.

Thanx...Michael

It sounds like a crop problem. It can be either impacted or sour crop. What does the crop feel like? Hard like a golf ball it's probably impacted crop. If it feels 'squashy' like a water filled balloon its sour crop.

Thanks for the responses. It is kinda hard. So we gave her a couple of small syringes of olive oil...Feels like it is getting smaller..Hope so. She and our other Delawares are usually fairly large and white and with the large bright red combs they are really beautiful. Will let you know if she gets better...

Now if I can find out why they aren't laying eggs in their coop. But, are laying in some hidden place in the yard...HA!!

Thanks again....

I'm so glad to hear it's going down some. You'll probably want to keep massaging it at least 5-10 minutes several times a day until it's fully gone. Feel it first thing in the morning before your chickens eat. Hopefully it's fully gone down. If you can still feel a ball and the crop still feels full the problem has not been solved. I'm saying this from experience because I just had one of my french black copper marans die but she had a sour crop. I'm not sure if it was completely a sour crop or a blockage elsewhere causing the crop not to empty. I worked with her for over a week. I tried every known cure as others has suggested. She died yesterday morning.

Hello, thanks for the info. She had white around the shafts if her feathers (couple of months). I did treat her with Garden Poultry Dust. Her little face was pale. She also appeared to be molting. She was very cold the last few days, couldn't seem to warm up even when I put her inside by a heater. The other birds appear ok but I will do the flashlight thing tonight. It is usually too cold here in Colorado for flees and mites. Thanks so much for your help.

Help! My backyard flock of chickens has had two deaths. Sadly I am losing the third, a 4 month old Banti, now in the last stages of life. The sysmptoms are similar, first lethargy, then weakness followed by not eating or drinnking them sleeping a lot or semi-consciousness. The other birds are healthy and active. You help is so appreciated.
I would treat this for coccidiosis like a few others said.
