Sick baby duck

I am sorry if I offended you. I was describing my setup to add any possible reason my ducks stayed up all night. The only reason I was able to afford it was a tax return. Anyway I left out the most important detail. I have pole lights in the aviary. That is why they stay up all night. I think I should take them down, and put them in the shelter. I looked on the internet and found that ducks are not nocturnal by nature, Their environment (the lights) changed them. Maybe you can put a divider in your duck house? Like a framed screen so the one does not feel so lonely. You might be able to pick up another house for a good deal on Craigslist? That is where I got the windows for my winter shelter. Between that and a light bulb, I hope it stays warm enough to keep their swimming pool from freezing. If you have any more ideas on that it would be most welcome. I do not know it all, but I have been doing my best to keep them happy and comfortable.
Diane.

Your netting sounds great. I think we are going to try and do fencing under our deck. We may still have to build another house but they will be able to see each other. Duck are so fun! They make me laugh everyday.

That would work great. There are little vents under there coming from under the house. They blow cool air in the summer and warm in the winter. If you put hay in there they might not need the house.

Funny thing is that is my backup plan if they don't like the duck house I am building. I was going to cover the top with some heavy duty plastic so it would stay dry under there. It gets very cold here in the winter, and that worries me allot. If things get too bad, I do have a spare bedroom. (scary thought) Wall to wall plastic sheeting? But I only have 4 very small ducks that are sensitive to the cold. Hope the deck or the deck works good enough!
