Help! My chicken is sick and has no balance she cannot stand or even sit up. She looks like she is gasping. Giving electrolyte water homemade. She hasn't pooped since 11. She is 11 weeks old and I hatched her myself. Help!

Sorry to hear about your pullet. She sounds very sick. Is it possible to see a vet today? She might be dehydrated or suffering from a respiratory disease or coccidiosis. What did her poops earlier look like? Is she drinking the electrolytes. Poultry NutriDrench is very good to give, a couple of drops. Was she sick before she was not able to stand?

We can only guess at what her problem may be. Do you think she could have eaten something poisonous, or could she have gotten injured? Have you ever seen Mareks disease in your flock? Bring her inside, keep her warm, and offer her sips of water up to her beak as often as possible. Is it extemely cold where you live?

She is living inside with 1 baby rooster and 2 other pullets and a silkie pullet. She was hatched by me from my older chickens, and never has seen another chicken other than her small flock. Not too long ago, my silkie rooster died that was living in the same place. He couldnt hold up his neck. We cannot afford a vet, and I seriously doubt there would be a poultry vet in northern ontario. Once in a while, she freaks out and flops everywhere. She may not be able to stand, but she can sure spring herself around. We are syringe feeding her water with electrolytes and tetracycline, and forcing grower feed into her mouth along with mealworms which she accepts. She looks like she is gasping. Her poops look like segments. Like it'll be plain caramel colour in one place, and normal chicken poo in the next. Since we have been giving her q lot of water, her poop now looks like brown pieces water.

Her bedding is pine shavings with a tiny bit of dust.

Hopefully, the silkie with the wry neck didn’t have Marek’s. Wry neck is just a neurological symptom, but can be seen with head injuries, vitamin E or thiamine deficiency, and in certain diseases such as Mareks, and others. Do you think there is enough dust in the pine shavings to make her gasp?Be cautious forcing her to eat, since she can aspirate the food and choke.

There might be. But she hasn't been near the pine shavings for 2 days. I'm thinking the silkie died because I let him out to see my other rooster and hens, and my rooster pecked him. I'm not sure where, but he screamed. A few days later he died.

Can you post some photos of the poop?
Any way you can get some Corid/Amprolium or Baycox?
