Sick bird

what would cause a bird to lay on it's back and not be able to get back up? It eats normal and eyes are clear everythings fine except cant get off back

What kind of bird? what age? Wild or domestic?

It's a young hawk, not able to fly yet. not mine. just curious as to what would cause this symptom.

how is it eating and drinking if it can't get off it's back?

They took it to the vet and they said that maybe it was injured when it fell out of its nest. So I guess it's a bone injury. they ended up leaving it. They were heart broken...just hope it stays far from my house when it recovers
