sick black silkie

I have a beautiful silkie that is about 3 months old. She was fine yesterday and this morning she is very ill. She keeps extending her neck and gasping like she has something caught in her throat. She has nothing in her crop. I have used a medicine dropper and administered some power aid but she is still gasping and rather noisily at times. I really want to save the poor little thing. Any ideas?

Have you checked her for gape worms? Swirl a q-tip down her throat (like you'd get a throat culture at your doctor) and check it for y-shaped red threads. If they are present she will need to be treated for gape worms.

That's all I can think of. I hope she's OK.
