Morning Celtic. I have 5 kitties, all quite old by vet standards (15, 13,12,11, 9) and they're always amazed that the blood work shows that not a one has any of the "normal' degenerative diseases that 'cats get'.....and there's a reason for that!
Most pet foods sold in this country contain dead cats and dogs! That's right! All those thousands of euthanized companion animals ~ it's against the law to take their bodies to the dump, so most places have them hauled off to the renderer and they are included under the listing 'meat by-products'. Now that is cannabalizism. That's what caused mad cow disease in cows! Dogs and cats are not meant to eat their own species!!! By doing a google search you'll find that most pet food companies also use moldy grains, and poor quality food scraps of all types (they kind you wouldn't hand your animal if you saw them).
Example: chicken by-products are not meat in most cases.......it's feathers-feet-and beaks. That's the part that snakes and owls throw up b/c it's not digestible. Yet the manufacturers grind it up and call it protein.
My cat/dog poops hardly smell at all. Which means that their bodies are able to utilize most of the food, and get all the nutrients, without alot of garbage left over.
I say all that to point out that sometimes vomiting is the bodies way of getting rid of toxins. If it's not hairballs, perhaps your kitty can no longer handle the food she's getting. The good (safe) stuff costs more, but she'll actually eat much less since she'll feel satisfied. (One reason cats/dogs overeat is cuz the food doesn't satisfy their nutritional requirements).
Also, most of us are told that our animals need dry kibble to keep their teeth clean. Well if that were so, why are vets scraping tartar off so many, and why are people brushing their pets teeth? Never heard of 40 yrs ago and not many pets had tartar bad enough to need it then! Dry food is responsible for causing cystitis in cats as it dehydrates them badly. She likely needs to have her dry food moistened and some canned food every day.
I sure hope she feels better soon! How great that you are taking such good care of her!
