What's CRD? The length of time this has been going on without her actually getting any food and the infection persisting is the problem.

Yes CRD just is an older term for chronic respiratory disease. Mycoplasma a bacteria-like organism is the usual organism. But other bacterial diseases such as coryza and a virus, ILT can also be chronic or come back again and again. In large poultry operations, most of the birds can be carriers, and keep spreading it along unless all birds are gone for a few weeks.

I only suggested some other antibiotics since I thought they might be found where you work. Tylan50 or 20 injectable is common around cattle farms, and is also called tylosin. It is mainly used for respiratory diseases, such as MG. We all realize that you cannot afford to buy products to use on the chick, but greatly admire that you are spending your time to help the chick.

Last night I decided the chick, with my lack of ability to aquire a lot of these things, and because of the prognosis of blindness on such an active farm- despite having a small coop for my birds that have overcome maimings or injury - and her Having shut down to being offered any food, yogurt, eggs, bologna, and just sitting quivering with her head down, I felt she must be in a lot of pain, and I wasn't going to continue a third time of removing the pus plug after it reformed.

With the rainy season down here in Florida, and being a smallish sized farm that gets a lot of flooding, even our cows in this season have a bit of mastitis to clear up from the mud, just sorry I couldn't do more for her.

Two things that seem to be on my list are terramycin and a better antibiotic.

So sorry about the chick. This is a good medicine to have which will treat respiratory infections in chickens and also good to use in cattle and is available at Tractor Supply and other feed stores for about $20. A needle and syringe are needed to withdraw it. Some stores will have Tylan 200, 4 times as strong, and about 4 times more expensive.
