I have 3 5 week old chicks...2 buckeyes and 1 welsummer. We're feeding them non-medicated organic chick starter and started mixing in organic developer feed in a 3 to 1 ratio on Saturday afternoon. We give them 1 Tbsp ACV in a gallon of water. Sunday night, I noticed one of the buckeyes was looking awfully sleepy, not eating with the others but making her sleepy peeping noises. I thought she was just tired and thought nothing of it but on Monday morning she was acting the same, not eating too much, not drinking at all. Just listlessly standing around and looking very puffed up, holding her neck close to her body, and peeping sleepily to herself again. I brought the girls outside to see if she would perk up and although she did flap her wings a few times and peck around, she mostly just followed the others without a lot of interest. When I first brought her out she fell over on her side a few times and I'm not sure if it was an instinct to sun herself or a neurological issue. She's barely pooped at all and when she does there's just a little drip, mostly watery with some white in it and sometimes a tan color. No blood. She does have little dark spots around her eyelids but I don't know if that's a natural feature of the chick as her feathers are mostly in, or if it indicates something else. Last night we seperated her from the others and cleaned all the bedding out and put fresh in both boxes. This morning I got some sulfadimethoxine from the vet which he recommended based on what I told him and I put it in the sick ones water and the other girls too. Since the sick one isn't eating or drinking, I'm guessing I just dip her beak into the water a few times per hour. She does swallow when I do that. I still have no idea what's wrong with her. Does anyone have any ideas?
