Sick Chick - Won't Move

Thanks for the info.

No improvement and if anything she's gotten a little worse, but I'll be really militant with the vitamins and pedialyte today. It's getting harder to get her to drink. I hold the spoon up and she just sort of flops her head down in it, sits there a second, and then shakes around. I know she's drinking some, but she doesn't drink like normal. After a few times of that she looks like she coughing and sometimes she throws up a little. Her crop usually fills up but then after a little while it goes back down. Her energy is also way down.

I think it might be time to put her down. She's wasting away to nothing and she's really limp and increasingly less responsive. She's not eating or drinking on her own and I have to basically force pedialyte and yogurt into her mouth with a medicine dropper, and even that's hard. Any last ideas or is it time?

I just put her down. She wouldn't eat at all, and when I set her back down after trying to give her yogurt and pedialyte, she couldn't even lift her head and she started sort of spitting it back up. It was pretty clear to me that she was hopeless and only hanging on by a thread. She had stopped opening her eyes a while ago and it seemed like she was totally out of it. She was far worse than she was even an hour ago.

I thought I had prepared myself, but I'm still pretty sad. Still though, I have 8 other little chicks and they're all doing great. That's how it goes I guess.

Thanks so much to the kind folks who helped me out. We did our best!

Sorry about that. You did try your best, so at least know that. I was dealing with a sick goat today, and he had to be put down, so I wasn't able to get back to you. I rescued the goats but this one was just too far gone to help. The other one seems to be doing better, at least.
It is so hard to lose any animal when you get attached, even for a short time. Just know that you did your best.

Oh no problem not getting back to me. I don't think there was anything that could have been done. Very sorry to hear about your goat.

Hopefully tomorrow will be a happier day!
