I really need help! I have a chick with what looks like bloody poop, but it's eating and drinking just fine and acting more or less normal. I gave both of the chicks some eggs and oat meal and I tried to go get corid, but the open feed stores didn't have any and the ones they suggested were closed. What do you suggest? (I can post pics of the poo in the comments if that will help)

How old are they? Have you been feeding chick starter with amprolium? If yes, it's not likely to be coccidiosis. Do your chicks have grit available? If they only eat chick starter, not needed. Otherwise, they need grit to manage the extra stuff you are feeding. Is it actually blood, or just off colored due to the treats? Mary

I think they're about two weeks, and I don't think it has amprolium.. It was from a mom and pop feed store and came in a brown bag. These guys only eat chick starter, and I put a little grit in there today. I haven't fed them any treats other than the oats and eggs. And it looks bloody to me, the news paper around the poo is stained the dried blood color. And some of the more solid poo is colored red. There's quite a bit in their brooder box as well. I'm trying to get poly vi sol but accidentally grabbed it with iron.

I'm hoping they will last that long.. They've been like this since Saturday? Maybe Friday? So I feel like I'm pushing it..

It sounds just like coccidiosis. I just went through that over 4th of July weekend when the open stores did not have Corid. I mixed powdered Oxytetracycline from TSC into their water and added 1 Tablespoon of cayenne pepper to one pound of their food. I bought the medicated Purina starter grower feed.

But those were just stopgap measures. The next day my local family-owned farm supply opened and they had Corid powder. I had to keep dipping their beaks in the Corid water to get them to drink.

For 20% Corid powder, Mix 1-1/2 teaspoons per gallon of water for 5 to 7 days. Then 1/3 teaspoon per gallon of water for another week, I think. It's a miracle cure. Try to find it even if you have to drive far.

I'm in suburbia with no farm vets, though I do have a few e vets I can go to, but owch emergency vets are pricey. I'm gonna get poly vi sol for today and see if that helps. After I get off work tomorrow, I'm going to a few other feed stores (or at least calling) to see if they have corid so I at least have some on hand!

I edited my post above.

Try to get it today, they could drop dead any minute. In suburbia you're near rural areas, call all the farm supplies within 100 miles.
