Sick chick

Hi guys I have 6 new silkie chicks from Cackle hatchery. When I say new they are almost 6 weeks. One has developed some sort of disease where she seems unstable and kind of flips over herself I found her with her head stuck in the waterer. I looked up the symptoms and it is saying it is torticollis. All of the pages are saying to give him/her some vitamins I have her in a separate place to keep the other chicks from trampling her, but she is VERY unhappy with it. I fed her vitamins and let her outside with a lot of room and she isn't flipping over anymore even though she is with the other chicks. Does anyone have any experience with this? I really don't want to give up of her.

Besides the vitamins, give the chicks 'Save-A-Chick' Probiotic and Electrolyte combo. Perhaps some tetracycline in the water won't hurt. I would never give up on her.

It does look like Wry Neck.Keep her isolated. For her own sake. You can use Sav-A-Chick although store bought vitamins would be suggested for a stronger dose. Vitamin E Capsules (200iu) can be given once a day by cutting the tip of the capsule with scissors and squirting it in to the side of her mouth(Do not aim in the middle of the mouth as it could go in the trachea).Continue for a few weeks even once her symptoms stop.As it can come back.Offering Tuna and eggs during treatment will help.Takeing her outside with her friends would be good too.It looked like she responded to the vitamins well but it could be a head injury(Silkies are prone to head injury's).If you have a avian vet near you it would be good to take her there.I would not give up on her it can take Days,Weeks,Months even years for it to be cured.
