Sick Chick?

Okay, we just got our chicks today, and one is just laying there, not peeping or pecking.

Is there a problem, or is it just tired?

Let me start with a disclaimer: I'm only raising my third batch of chicks, and the last batch was a good 10 years ago.

I just brought home day-old chicks the other day and was worried about one for the same reason. The other nine were all eating and chirping and he was "passed out" under the heat lamp. He perked up when I picked him up, though. So I left him to nap, and when I checked on them again later, he was fine.

Thanks. And now there's another problem. One of the chicks isn't looking good. She's just laying there most of the time, not eating or walking around. Is she sick?

I bought 50 chicks about a month ago and i had to go out of town and when i came back they did not look good i have raised chickens for about 10 years and have never seen this they look all droopy and move slow the in the morning the are dead does any one have any idea what might be wrong it has been prety hot here could that be it
