Sick Chick

You can't consider yourself a failure a failur when you do everything you can. How many days have they been on the Corid now? Did you mix up a fresh batch of it daily?

They were on Corid for 5 days. I had taken them off Corid and on vitamins. Supposed to be on vitamins for a few days and then back on Corid for a final round.
I did not mix a fresh batch each day. More like every other day.
The 4 BO's have never looked sick from day one. Just the 2 Ameracanas.
I am not accustomed to failure and don't like it. I know it really wasn't in my power but I still don't like it.

Have they ever showed any other symptoms? Mine acted just like you described yours when I suspected the cocci. It took her a little while to get back to normal after treatment. Do they have any nasal drainage or anything? It may sound silly, but hold the chick close to your ear and listen to her lungs to make sure they sound clear.

No drainage that I have noticed. I will try to give a listen for congestion. The one that's left looks a bit better today but the one I lost looked better on the day before it passed.

The remaining Ameracauna seems better. 3 days ago she looked pretty bad. She is still on Poly Vi Sol and ACV. My grandson asked if the shavings in the brooder could be making her sick. They are the same brand etc I have always used. In order to make him feel like we were actually doing something I removed the shavings and lined the bottom with newspaper several layers thick. I can peel out the top layer and keep the brooder clean. She seems better. A bit feisty when I reach in but still not real steady and kind of slow, but better. The other chick seemed to be getting better right before she died. I am still hopeful.
The 4 BO's never did get sick and have since moved out to within sight of the main flock but still separate.

No problem there. I am trying to keep a clean, dry environment to promote speedy healing.
